Information the app handles

Cookbook Collective is designed to keep your everyday meal-planning information close to you. Depending on the features you choose, the app may handle:

• Recipes, ingredients, meal plans, grocery lists, preparation notes, and app preferences.
• Photos or recipe text that you intentionally submit for recipe import or nutrition estimates.
• Information needed to create calendar events, such as meal titles, notes, dates, times, and reminders.
• Basic account information, such as the email address associated with a connected Google account, so the app can show which account is connected.

Where your information goes

Many recipes, plans, grocery lists, and preferences are stored on your device. If you use shared cookbook features, Apple CloudKit may store the information needed to sync that shared content with your Apple account.

If you use recipe import or nutrition estimates, the information you submit is sent to Cookbook Collective’s backend and may be processed by service providers, including OpenAI, to return the requested result. The backend is not used to sell your information or to show advertising.

If you explicitly publish or share a recipe or cookbook, the selected content is stored on the Cookbook Collective service and may be visible to anyone who has the shared link.

Google Calendar

If you choose Google Calendar, Cookbook Collective uses Google’s sign-in and Calendar services to connect the Google account you select and create, update, or remove the meal and preparation events you request. The app requests only the access needed for those calendar features.

Google access and refresh tokens are stored in the iOS Keychain on your device. Cookbook Collective does not sell calendar data, use it for advertising, or transfer it to a third party except as needed to provide the calendar feature or comply with law. Google’s handling of information is also governed by Google’s Privacy Policy.

Other services you may choose

When you use optional integrations, information may be sent to the service you selected. For example, an unchecked grocery list may be sent to Instacart to create a shopping link. Those services handle information under their own privacy policies.

Your choices

• You can choose whether to connect Google Calendar, use recipe import, publish content, or use optional shopping integrations.
• You can disconnect Google Calendar from the app. You can also revoke Cookbook Collective’s Google access from your Google Account security settings.
• You can remove app data stored on your device by deleting the app. Shared or published content may require removal through the feature that created it or a request to the developer.

Security and changes

The app uses platform security features, including the iOS Keychain for Google credentials, and encrypted network connections where supported. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

This policy may be updated when the app or its integrations change. The date above shows when the current version took effect.
